Best high end graphics card under 300 dollars for gaming

Three hundred dollars is an ideal budget for you if you are looking for strong graphics card for gaming, especially if you want to play "heavy games" with high frame rate on 1080p (full HD) and 1440p resolutions. Well in this article I'm gonna give you four best high end graphics card for the money, keep reading...

Note:
- You need at least strong quad core CPU to running the the video cards below properly.
- Unfortunately, the video cards in this list are not strong enough for 4K resolutions.

1. R9 290

In November 2013 AMD successfully hit the enthusiast-class market with their phenomenal R9 290X and non X version, powerful gaming graphics cards but with more friendly price, if compared to Nvidia cards in the same class.

The R9 290 is one of the best high end AMD's video card which is powered by "Hawaii" GPU chip, and comes with 2560 shaders, 160 texture mapping units and 64 ROPs.

Well, with 320 GB/s memory bandwidth, this video card is good to handle Crysis 3 with high settings on 1440p res. Unfortunately, according to benchmark by anandtech.com, the R9 290 struggles to handle Crysis 3 on 4K res and it can only reach 43 FPS, on low quality + FXAA.

Power Consumption: 275 W
Memory Bandwidth: 320 GB/s
Texel Rate: 152 GTexel/s
Pixel Rate: 60.6 GPixel/s
Memory Bus: 512 bit

2. GTX 660

This video card is based on Kepler GK106 with 960 CUDA Cores and designed to fill the gap between GK104 and GK107 GPU. Well, one of the best advantage of GTX 660 is, its max power consumption is only 140 Watts so it can run in computer with 500W power supply.

Unfortunately, the GTX 660 is slower than R9 290. According to game-debate.com, the performance of this video card is 17% worse than GTX 660 Ti. The good news is, this GTX card is still great for 1080p and 1440p gaming.

Power Consumption: 140 W
Memory Bandwidth: 144 GB/s
Texel Rate: 78.4 GTexel/s
Pixel Rate: 19.6 GPixel/s
Memory Bus: 192 bit

3. R9 280X

It is no longer a secret if the Radeon R9 280X, is still powered by the Tahiti XT GPU, the chip which is used to power the Radeon HD 7970 graphics card, but with a few tweaks and of course more interesting prices.

Technically, the specifications between R9 280X with its previous generation, the HD 7970 can be said to be identical, except for differences where R9 280X GPU clock by default uses 50 MHz speed lower than the HD 7970 GHz Edition. The good news is, if you already have the older HD 7970, you can combine it with R9 280X by using the AMD crossfire technology.

The features

Well, R9 280X has supported AMD's latest graphics card features such as API Mantle, DirectX 11.2, and full support for 4K display device.

Power Consumption: 250 W
Memory Bandwidth: 288 GB/s
Texel Rate: 109 GTexel/s
Pixel Rate: 27.2 GPixel/s
Memory Bus: 384 bit
